As a Law Enforcement Officer in New Jersey, I was looking for a gym and coach that would help me in my ability to respond physically and defensively to any situation I was faced with. I knew that Greg Mihovich, owner of the Underground Gym was the person I wanted to train with after the first time I met him. On the defensive side, over the years with Greg I have trained Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, as well as expanding on my skills of weapon retention, gun and knife defense, and all the skills I needed that would allow me to go home safe at the end of my shift each day. Without a doubt Greg is one of the most well rounded fighters both with stand up and ground fighting I have ever met. Earlier this year I signed up for the Marine Corps and had 6 month to get into great shape. My friends recommended the Underground Gym and I joined. What a blessing that was! I trained with Greg for 3 month prior to me leaving college to go to play soccer at Division 2 School. I thought I was in shape before I started, but his training really focused on muscle groups I never knew i had, especially in my core. He really showed me how to strengthen my core and legs through various Kettlebell exercises. I am using weights in squats and snatches I never thought I’d be able to. His program made me a much stronger athlete, better conditioned, and a lot more agile. I went into this experience not being able to do one real push up and also not being able to bounce back up from a fall to doing 15 plus good pushups and to rolling and really controlling my body to stand back up quickly and ready to go again. Oh my God, Where do I begin? Do I mention how my outlook on life has changed, for the positive?
